It was the South African edition of a dictionary won by Joe Foster as a child that gave the idea for the name of the brand. “Rhebok”, in fact, is an Afrikaans-Dutch term that stands for “antelope”, a symbol of speed and agility.
It is from this context that Joe and Jeff Foster drew inspiration for the new name of the original Mercury Sports, founded in 1895 and renamed Reebok in 1958.
During the early 80s, the brand established itself above all in the world of fitness and aerobics, and only later began to dialogue with basketball, tennis and representatives of the world of sport such as Ryan Giggs and Venus Williams.
It is precisely from tennis that two models take inspiration that, having survived the test of time, have established themselves as the brand's workhorses: the Classic Leather model, the low and lightweight sneakers with a leather upper, and the Reebok Club C85, confirming the fact that tennis does not stop at sport, but becomes a true style phenomenon.
Today, Reebok shoes are convincing due to their youthful vintage look and the fact that they represent a good compromise between comfort and trend, whether they are running shoes, leisure shoes or gym shoes.
