The iconic sportswear brand of the hooded sweatshirt was born in Rochester in 1919, from the idea of the Feinbloom brothers and became known for the quality of its materials and technological innovations in the clothing field. Champion products were initially used by the US Military Academy and the Navy during lessons and training, but soon became the object of request also by sports coaches for their teams and by American universities, thanks to the revolutionary “reverse weave” technique. A pioneer of this technique, Champion solved the problem of frequent washing of sports clothing, with consequent vertical shrinkage of the garment's fiber: the weave of the fabric is created horizontally already at the time of weaving, so that the shape of the garment is not damaged during washing. The moment of greatest success for the brand began in the '70s and '80s, at the same time as the boom in the sports world: Champion became the official sponsor of the NBA and also produced uniforms for some NFL teams. World champions of sports such as Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Shaquille O'Neill and Magic Johnson have trained and played wearing the “C” logo, but the authenticity of the brand has not taken long to guarantee it important goals also in the streetwear world, where it has managed to establish itself as a global brand also thanks to collaborations with Supreme and Fuct. The recent recovery of the original designs of the past, reinterpreted in a modern key with patterns and colors loved by the new generations, confirm Champion's immunity to the passage of time.
